The Diva’s challenge this week brought to us by the talented Christina Vandervlist from the blog stART is to create a tile using straight strings with curved patterns or curved strings with straight patterns.  I decided to try both.

The wonderful Zentangle creators Rick and Maria have come up with a new tangle.  And the equally awesome Diva (Laura) has made it this weeks challenge.  I have to say ‘challenge’ was the key word here.  It took me a few tries to get the hang of this one.  Then once I did, it started reminding me of cherry blossom trees, so I ran with it.

The challenge from guest host Carol Ohl: Use a 3-1/2 x 3-1/2 inch tile. If you have an official Zentangle tile, great, if not, that’s ok too. The frames I will be using fit this size tile. Use any string you like with these four tangles: Pais (by Mikee Huber), Zedbra (by Laura Harms and Margaret Bremner), Keenees (by Donna Hornsby), and Baton (by Carol herself) to create a response to this challenge.

This is my first chance to use an actual official Zentangle tile that I received as part of a prize package.  This is one of the few times that I’ve actually done an official Zentangle tile.  Most of my work tends to lean towards ZIA (Zentangle Inspired Artwork).  Anyway, here you go:
